Self-care may look different for each of us. For some it may look like working out on a regular basis or watching our carbs, but for some JFCS clients, it could look like finding a safe environment for family. The goal of the event is to bridge these two worlds and help prospective donors learn how giving can be a form of self-care, because it brings us joy, while also learning this act of generosity could mean even more to the clients whom we serve.

Our Keynote Speaker: Dr. Chippy Ajithan
Keynote Address: Self-Care in a Post COVID-19 World
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Chippy Ajithan, “The Mindful Cardiologist,” is this year’s keynote speaker. Dr. Ajithan is a board certified cardiologist with the Heart Specialists of Sarasota. She is also the recipient of Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s 2019 Physician of the Year Award, and the program advisor for its Ornish Reversal Program.
As a youth, Dr. Ajithan knew she would become a doctor. She chose to study biochemistry after being fascinated by the myriad of chemical processes within the human body. The precision of cardiovascular medicine, research-based treatment protocols and immediate life-saving treatments attracted her to cardiology.
After 20 years of practice, Dr. Ajithan’s focus on treating chronic disease has shifted towards lifestyle as the key to preventing, healing and even reversing disease. Meditation, movement, nutrition and self love are her prescriptions for transforming the body, mind and spirit. For those willing to put in the work, wellness is not only possible, it is a life-altering reality; one which allows a person to reach his or her full potential.
