Gulf Coast Community Foundation awards JFCS community grant for fundraising, cultural and volunteer event programs

SARASOTA, Fla. (Nov. 25, 2018) — The Gulf Coast Community Foundation recently awarded JFCS of the Suncoast a $10,000 community grant to support the organization’s fundraising, cultural and volunteer recognition programs. The funds will be specifically directed toward five JFCS events and volunteer support programs, including the annual JFCS Celebration, BeyondMe networking events, Celebrity Chefs, JFCS Volunteer Celebration Luncheon and the Key Chorale Performance of Elijah.

“JFCS is most appreciative of this grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation that allows us to host events that grow awareness among residents, government officials, business leaders and other non-profit partners about the work and mission of JFCS,” said Laura McManus-Mesia, JFCS chief development officer.  “The grant is particularly timely given the recent economic and employment challenges as a result of Red Tide, which has placed greater burdens on those in need and the services to help them thrive.” 

Confirmed details for four of the five upcoming events include:

The JFCS Celebration, ‘It’s a Jungle Out There,” Dec. 16, 2018 – Serving as one of two primary fundraising events for JFCS, this year’s Celebration and theme, “It’s a Jungle Out There,” is taking on a promise of hope and brighter futures for those in need.  This includes a shift from black tie to more colorful cocktail attire.  The Celebration event also provides an important stage for the non-profit organization to share its mission, build awareness of the importance and value of philanthropy as well as showcase opportunities to serve and grow community service programs and outreach.

BeyondMe Networking Events, Ongoing – These events bring together aspiring professional adults and grow their awareness and participation in philanthropic initiatives that allow Sarasota to thrive as a community and support those in need. 

Celebrity Chefs Food & Wine Tasting and Golf Tournament, April 9, 2019 – Joining the JFCS Celebration as one of the non-profit’s primary fundraising events, the Annual Celebrity Chefs held at The Resort at Longboat Key Club includes an optional Golf Challenge featuring a scramble format followed by the Celebrity Chefs Food & Wine Tasting, auction, live music all held “Under the Tent.”  This casual food and wine event features over 25 local chefs showcasing their signature cuisine.  The auction offers tempting experiences and packages for bidding with all proceeds going to support the programs and services of JFCS.

JFCS Volunteer Celebration Luncheon, February 9, 2019 – Key to the success of JFCS and furthering its mission to help and empower those in need, this annual luncheon brings together the more than 680 JFCS volunteers who willingly devote their time and services.
