Development Specialist

Position Summary:

The Development Specialist maintains accurate database records with focus on donors and volunteers; supports development and marketing activities through database record segmentation; creates reports and mail files for fundraising and marketing campaigns including migration of information from donor database to email marketing database

Qualifications: 

Experience working in a non-profit or customer service-related field; donor database or data entry experience.  Prefer knowledge of donor relations/volunteer database (Donor Perfect) and email marketing database (Constant Contact); proficiency in Microsoft databases including Outlook, Excel, Publisher and Word, with a heavy emphasis on Excel; ability to multi-task and grasp new processes quickly; excellent organizational and analytical skills, detail-oriented requiring high degree of accuracy and timeliness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

o             Donor Records and Database Maintenance

  • Enter all daily receipts in database
  • Reconcile daily deposits with finance
  • Maintain proper records of daily receipts
  • Create and maintain donor database records
  • Generate donor acknowledgment letters
  • Produce Donor Management reports monthly and lists as needed for fundraising mailings and other activities
  • Check obituaries and update records in Donor Perfect
  • Update and maintain donor and volunteer email contacts in Constant Contact
  • Support development events and functions with lists and mailings from Donor Perfect

o             Volunteers

  • Manage volunteer database, recruitment and communications
  • Maintain list of volunteer opportunities and requirements for each
  • Ensure proper placement of volunteers in departments as needed

o             General Requirements

  • Must abide by JFCS and Association of Fundraising Professionals codes of conduct
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies and procedures, including policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and the release of Protected Health Information (PHI) as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
  • Other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Donor Perfect and Constant Contact training as needed
  • All JFCS mandatory training

ACCOUNTABILITY:  Supervised by the Director of Development

CLASSIFICATION:  This position is classified as full-time non-exempt (hourly)
