Major Gifts Officer

FUNCTION: To expand and diversify funding for JFCS through targeted direct solicitation of individual gifts of $5,000 and higher and planned giving to increase the agency endowment fund.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strengthen agency’s fundraising capacity:
o Establish a major donor giving program that focuses on engaging existing donors and qualifying, contacting and engaging new prospects
o Establish personal relationships with major donors, identifying their interests and educating them about JFCS programs that would appeal to them
o Personally solicit 100 – 150 prospects with an emphasis on leadership level annual gifts at $5,000 and higher as well as planned giving donations to support the endowment fund
o Develop & implement donor recognition program
o Work with and support the Board of Directors in their stewardship of specific donors
o Plan and execute Legacy Society events for donors

• Provide team support for the activities and events sponsored by the Development Department
o Donor stewardship and solicitation of major donors and Legacy Society members

• Ensure compliance with all agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and the release of Protected Health Information (PHI) as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).

• Other activities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Finance or related field. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a major or planned gift fundraising capacity; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; dedication to the mission of the agency; proficiency in Donor Perfect software or a similar database. A solid understanding of finances and budgeting.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: All JFCS mandatory training

CLASSIFICATION: This position is classified as full-time exempt

ACCOUNTABILITY: Supervised by the Chief Development Officer
