Ignite Outreach Specialist – Health Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood Program

Job Title: Ignite Outreach Specialist

Accountability: Program Director

Job Summary/Function: Responsible for raising awareness in the community of the Responsible Fatherhood program and successful recruitment of participants. The Outreach Specialist will work primarily in the community building strategic relationships, conducting a variety of outreach activities, and recruiting program participants. The successful candidate must have an understanding of the community’s culture and ethnicity and be able to take advantage of its opportunities and respond positively to its challenges. This position manages the program’s marketing campaign. Works closely with the Program Director and Marketing Department.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones through strategic plan and efforts
  • Plan and coordinate events for external partners
  • Engage and recruit participants at community events and conduct follow-up recruitment calls
  • Develop formal outreach and recruitment plan to increase community referral stream
  • Maintain contact/referral database for partners and prospective participants
  • Research and register for appropriate community events, and coordinate community event logistics including supplies and staffing of event
  • Create outreach and collateral materials, including flyers, brochures, press releases, presentations and advertisements to market program and recruit participants
  • Manage social media presence, public relations and advertising campaigns for program in conjunction with organizational objectives
  • Assist with participant screening and enrollment process
  • Ensure data quality, accurate tracking, and reporting of outreach engagements
  • Participate in program’s Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Implementation team
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as program needs require travel throughout Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties as well as evenings and weekend events

Education/Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or marketing.  A minimum of two year’s combined experience in direct social service and/or marketing/sales
  • Experience using social media and other forms of written communication to market events, conduct outreach, etc.
  • Vast knowledge of community resources and partners
  • Ability to connect with professionals at all positions and levels of seniority and lay people in the community
  • Strong initiative, organizational skills, written, and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and demonstrate competent computer skills
  • Understanding of cultural diversity including the culture of poverty and hard to reach or resistant individuals and families

Typical Physical Demands:

This position requires the individual to perform a broad range of activities. This position requires full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand and eye coordination. This position requires corrected vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. This position requires seated work at desk, including use of a computer and technology. This position requires the ability to lift 30 pounds. This position requires the ability to drive and have regular access to a reliable automobile for travel to remote offices. This position requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Training:  All required JFCS training per COA, DCF, and any additional training as needed within the required timeframes
