Aging Services

Position title: Savvy Seniors Coordinator

Function/purpose of position: Develop and implement a grant-funded program titled Savvy Seniors.

Summary of duties & responsibilities: Work with staff to develop and implement a program titled Savvy Seniors that pairs high school seniors with senior citizens to increase the senior citizens’ knowledge of iPads.

Time requirement: Unknown at this time.

Qualifications/education needed: Experience with developing a grant-approved program and implementing the program in the community.

Training: Good with people. Self-starter. Ability to work independently.

Physical demands: Ability to drive and interact with people. Able to carry multiple iPads.

Position title: Aging Services Volunteer/Group Facilitator

Function/purpose of position: Work with Aging Services staff to help facilitate an online caregiver support group.

Summary of duties & responsibilities: Volunteers would be trained by Aging Services staff to facilitate an online caregiver support group.

Time requirement: Ongoing.

Qualifications/education needed: Experience with Alzheimer’s and dementia-related conditions. Experience with facilitating support groups.

Training: Good with people. Self-starter. Ability to work independently.

Physical demands: None.

OMAP (Operation Military Assistance Program)

Position title: Administrative Assistant Veteran Services

Function/purpose of position: Assist director with scheduling, route veteran calls, greet veteran walk-in appointments with case managers, send emails, and help plan Stand Down event.

Time requirement: Up to 20 hours per week.

Qualifications/education needed: Background in office work, usage of Microsoft Word and Excel. Prior administrative and/or bookkeeping experience.

Training: Minimal

Physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, carrying items up to 70 lbs.

Ignite Fatherhood Program

Position title: Ignite Ambassador

Function/purpose of position: Work collaboratively with Outreach Specialist to promote the Ignite Fatherhood Program to organizations and partners in Sarasota, Manatee, and Charlotte counties.

Summary of duties & responsibilities: Assist Outreach Specialists and/or other staff with outreach efforts and outreach events. Visit identified partners to share program updates and information. Perform follow-up calls if needed to assist in recruitment.

Time requirement: Flexible. Some evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications/education needed: Friendly demeanor.

Training: Basic program knowledge would be provided.

Physical demands: Walking.

Human Resources

Position title: HR Assistant

Function/purpose of position: To assist with filing and data entry.

Summary of duties & responsibilities: To assist with filing and data entry.

Time requirement: 9 am-noon; or 10 am-1 pm. 3-5 days a week.
Qualifications/education needed: Excel and Word.

Training: Will be trained as needed.

Physical demands: The ability to move around the office.


Camp Mariposa

Position title: Volunteer Mentor

Function/purpose of position: Desired outcomes of Camp Mariposa are to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness by connecting campers with other children impacted by a loved one’s substance disorder. To educate campers that substance abuse and addiction are a disease and not their fault. Provide a place for kids to have fun, build confidence and learn critical life skills to help manage feelings and practice self-care. To offer campers positive choices in life and to connect campers with ongoing support and resources to meet needs that are identified.

Summary of duties & responsibilities:
• Provide support to Program Coordinator and other peer mentors.
• Participate in all camp activities unless the activity will cause physical harm.
• Assist in keeping campers engaged during psycho-education groups, meals, and other activities.
• Give support to, direction to, and keep an “eyes on/ears on” approach to assigned and all campers throughout the weekend.
• Participate in required pieces of training.
• Other duties as required.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Time requirement:
Youth Camps: Begin at 6:30 pm on day 1 and end at 10 am on day 3.

• March 24-26, 2023
• May 12-14, 2023
• July 21-23, 2023
• September 29-October 1, 2023

Teen Camps: Begin at 6:30 pm on day 1 and end at 6:15 pm on day 2.
• February 10-11, 2023
• April 21-22, 2023
• August 18-19, 2023
• October 20-21, 2023

Combined Youth/Teen:
• November 10-12, 2023

Qualifications/education needed:
• Ability to create a positive, fun, and safe environment for campers.
• Ability to engage youth and integrate into the camp experience.
• Ability to work with hard to reach or resistant individuals.
• Flexibility.
• Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

Training:
Training on Camp Mariposa policies and procedures. Training on role expectations at the camp facility

Physical demands:
This position requires
• the individual to perform a broad range of activities.
• a full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand-and-eye coordination.
• corrected vision, speech, and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of sufficient nature for the completion of assigned tasks.
• the ability and willingness to participate in physical activities related to camp experience as well as standing work in front of a classroom.
• the ability to lift 30 pounds.
• the ability and willingness to participate as a chaperone during bus transportation of campers.
• the ability to withstand exposure to outdoor elements such as cold, heat, sun, insects, water, nature, and all activities related to a typical camp experience.
• working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
