SARASOTA, Fla. (February 11, 2026) – JFCS of the Suncoast will host its 14th Annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Health & Human Services Center, 2200 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. The annual event brings together nearly 50 community partners to provide critical services and resources to veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Stand Down offers a few hours of relief, support, and connection to services at no cost to those who have served in the United States Armed Forces and now need a helping hand. JFCS anticipates serving more than 100 veterans at this year’s event.
Available services will include VA benefits and services, Veterans Amnesty Court, medical screenings, haircuts and grooming, hygiene kits, clothing, meals and refreshments, DMV mobile services, dog vaccinations and exams, and more.
Veterans Amnesty Court remains a cornerstone of the event, offering eligible veterans the possibility of having fines waived or minor charges reduced at the judge’s discretion. This assistance can remove barriers to employment, housing, and driver’s license reinstatement.
“Stand Down is about showing up for veterans who have sacrificed for our country and making sure they are not alone when they need support,” said David Malia, Director of Veteran Homeless and Prevention Services at JFCS of the Suncoast. “By bringing dozens of providers together in one place, we can help remove barriers and connect veterans to housing, healthcare, and other vital resources that move them toward stability.”
At past Stand Down events, veterans have successfully resolved legal issues, secured emergency shelter, and connected with ongoing case management and financial assistance programs. JFCS aims to build on these successes and continue empowering veterans to achieve self-sufficiency.
